B.U. Bridge, Charles River, Boston, MA 1999
Are you familiar with the layers of transportation that stack vertically at location of the B.U. Bridge? Boats, cars, bicycles, pedestrians, trains and even planes flying overhead! Shot directly from the bike path, the B.U. Bridge literally floats over the lower Grand Junction railway bridge which is just a few feet overhead. Built in 1928 and originally called the Cottage Farm Bridge, it was eventually renamed the BU Bridge. The Bridge, is a steel truss through arch bridge with a suspended deck carrying Route 2A over the Charles River, connecting the Boston University campus to Cambridge, Massachusetts.
